I (obviously) love my verts. I used to own a 911 (993 series) and I actually like the Z's better. (There was a really annoying turbulence right by your head in the 911 that was impossible to get rid of.)These are great 'sunny day rip around' cars. With the winters up here you just can't beat dropping the top when the weather allows it - makes me feel like a teenager after taking them out for a topless cruise. That being said, I would not consider one for my DD. Here are some random thoughts: 1) There is more flex around the middle of the car than a coupe. It is most noticeable on curbs as Adam described above. Not a big deal. 2) It is a totally different feel than a TTop. Basically you need to decide whether you like that turbulent "air all around you feel". A better comparison would be to compare convertible to the feeling of being on a large touring motorcycle. Some love it, some hate it. 3) Rattles - you can hear creaks up with the top up, not so many with the top down. Most of these can be tracked down and fixed with patience effort. No noticeable creaks when running topless. 4) Convertible top - more of an umbrella than a raincoat. It will keep you dry for a while but will not withstand a heavy driving storm for more than about an hour or two. This will vary car to car. I suggest hand washing it with a pressure washer before you buy - then you know what you've got.
